The Bank of Korea recommends introducing a circuit breaker mechanism in the crypto asset market to cope with the risk of extreme volatility.

Gate News update, April 13, the Bank of Korea stated that it should carefully consider introducing a “circuit breaker mechanism” similar to that used in traditional financial markets in the crypto asset market (Circuit Breaker, a protective mechanism that can pause trading when the market experiences abnormal volatility) to address extreme market volatility and systemic risk. The Bank of Korea noted that as the crypto asset market grows in scale and related risks increase, existing regulatory measures cannot fully cover potential issues, so it is necessary to study the introduction of a protective mechanism that can automatically interrupt trading to enhance market stability and investor protection. Previously, a certain exchange caused abnormal payments of some users’ assets due to a system malfunction, drawing market attention and becoming the background for this regulatory recommendation.
